Apave Certification is a competent body for testing, registering and certifying products for the Gulf States market.
What is Product Certification for Gulf countries ?
G-mark certification is mandatory for exporting your products to the Gulf States.
Apave Certification is notified by the GSO (Gulf Cooperation Council Standards Organisation) to deliver this certification.
What is G-mark ?
The G-Mark is required for the sale of low-voltage household and similar electrical appliances in the countries that make up the GCC, the Gulf Cooperation Council.
The G-Mark is a mandatory requirement in addition to the safety standards and procedures already set in the following six Arab countries:
- Saudi Arabia
- Kuwait
- Bahrain
- Qatar
- United Arab Emirates,
- Oman.
Periodicity
La certification G-Mark est valable trois ans et le candidat doit ensuite présenter une nouvelle demande de renouvellement pour conserver sa certification.
Details of the certification
The list of electrical products covered by this certification includes the following 13 categories:
- Domestic electric fans
- Refrigerators, freezers and other refrigeration or freezing equipment [up to 30 cubic feet = 850 litres].
- Centrifugal clothes driers and washing machines, including machines that wash and dry at the same time [up to 12 kg].
- Food grinders and blenders, fruit or vegetable juice extractors.
- Toasters
- Electrothermic hairdressing appliances and hand dryers
- Electric heating appliances for domestic use
- Microwave ovens
- Other ovens; cookers, hobs, stoves, grills and rotisseries
- Electric instantaneous or storage water heaters and immersion heaters [appliances up to 200 litres].
- Electric straightening irons
- Plugs, sockets, adapters, extension leads and chargers
- Air conditioners
Regulations
With this certification, manufacturers, exporters or agents must demonstrate that they comply with the safety and quality standards in force in this field, as well as the additional requirements of the GSO, contained in the Gulf Technical Regulation for Low Voltage Electrical Equipment and Appliances BD-142004-01.
The regulation applies to mains powered electrical equipment.
The requirements of the G-mark are intended to prevent any risk of electric shock or risk to the safety of users. Apave Certification is notified to test, inspect and certify your low-voltage electrical and electronic products, and the certificate is valid for 3 years.

Your questions
The G-Mark certification is valid for 3 years and then the applicant needs to reapply for recertification to maintain the certification.
Test reports from in-house laboratories belonging to the Manufacturer or from a Notified Body can be accepted.
This is possible under conditions: in-house laboratories shall be accredited in accordance with the Gulf Technical Regulations related to accreditation by the Gulf Accreditation Center or any accreditation body signatory of the Mutual Recognition Arrangement (MRA) of the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC) or the Multilateral Recognition Arrangement (MLA) of the International Accreditation Forum (IAF).
The Technical Documentation shall, wherever applicable, contain at least the following elements:
1. A general description of electrical equipment;
2. A detailed description with conceptual design and manufacturing drawings, including a list of components, materials, sub-assemblies and circuits used in the electrical equipment;
3. Descriptions and explanations necessary for the understanding of those drawings and schemes and the operation of electrical equipment;
4. The addresses of the places of manufacture and storage of electrical equipment; 5. A list of the Gulf or IEC Standards applied in full or in part, and descriptions of the solutions adopted to meet the essential requirements of the Gulf Technical Regulations in force where those Gulf or IEC Standards have not been applied. In the event of partly applied Gulf Standards, the Technical Documentation shall specify the parts, which have been applied;
6. Results of design calculations made, examinations carried out, etc.;
7. A copy of the Gulf-type examination certificate and a description of the solutions adopted by the Manufacturer to ensure the conformity of the production with the type specified in the Gulf-type examination certificate, and copies of documents sent by the Manufacturer to the Notified Body.
8. A description of the conformity assessment procedure followed.
9. Test reports from in-house laboratories belonging to the Manufacturer, or from a Notified Body.
The Gulf Standards also called GSO Standards are available in an online searchable database via the GSO website.

The products are in List 2 of regulated products: (List No. (2) TC143307-01 Electrical equipment and appliances subjected to CAP in Annex (4) of LV TR)
The manufacturers should select a Notified Body (NB) Apave Certification, to confirm that the technical design of the product meets the Gulf technical regulations requirements.
Other products not listed shall go through manufacturer self declaration.
Product exported in GCC countries are required to bear G-Mark, G-Mark is covering the following regulations :
- Toys : Gulf Technical Regulation on Children Toys (BD-131704-01);
- LVE : Low Voltage Electrical Equipment and Appliances (BD-142004-01).
