Apave Certification’s skills certificate in maintenance and general upkeep of premises is part of a voluntary approach and has been created to meet the growing needs of companies in all sectors that wish to increase recognition of their staff and certify their skills in the upkeep and general maintenance of buildings. Being certified is a guarantee that you have the skills to ensure:
- Advance preparation of your maintenance work: analysis of the different tasks for the intervention, preparation of the site – products, equipment, installations, protection of premises and people, communication about your maintenance work.
- The completion of property maintenance and upkeep work in 4 areas:
- Electricity
- Heating-Ventilation-Air Conditioning (HVAC)
- Sanitary facilities
- Interior enclosure of the building - door and window frames, laying of floors, painting/wallpapering, locks
- The energy performance of facilities, and being proactive in identifying improvement areas.
- Adapting your behaviour to each situation (communication, interpersonal skills, etc.)
At the end of the examination, you will be issued a C by Apave skills certificate, subject to meeting the conditions for its award.

Conduct of the examination
The examination follows on from the training course delivered by Apave. It consists of:
- 1 written theoretical test given during the training for each field of intervention (Electricity, Heating-Ventilation-Air Conditioning (HVAC), Sanitary installations, Interior building enclosure)
- 1 half-day of practical simulations reconstituting the professional environment for each area of intervention
- 1 final individual interview with the examiner - 15 mins per candidate
